  7. *NOTICE: I am starting a new feature for all sysops. Most sysops of BBS
  8. are always looking for new members to join their board and contribute
  9. both file wise, message wise, and money wise. Well, how do you get
  10. new users? You can post your number in BBS lists on BBS which have tons
  11. of other BBS numbers, many which don't work(ie.posted in 1988 for exaple)
  12. and never erased. So your number is stuck in with millions of other numbers
  13. that don't even work. Is it the SysOps fault? No, he/she is VERY busy
  14. and dosen't have time to revise the list. Second, you can put your own
  15. BBS logo or .exe advertisment file in all of YOUR files on your BBS, so 
  16. that when someone downloads, they see your ad/logo. Third, you can get
  17. your name & phone number put on a local list such as mine, in which
  18. MANY people will download from not just your board, but about 25 to 50
  19. others. 
  20.     Do any of these methods work? Yes, they do, but what is the problem, 
  21. with them? The answer: They are very limited. Let me go through each 
  22. of the 3 examples and give a good & bad aspects review(please keep reading!)

  24. METHOD #1: Post # on list on another Bulletin Board.
  25.  
  26. Good Aspect: Some people will look at it, and if your lucky, they will
  27. oick you name & # out of the many other BBS names & numbers, hence
  28. you have a new user.

  30. Bad Aspect: There are Usually, too many numbers, that don't work, and
  31. that haven't worked for years, so people get fed up trying to call
  32. bad numbers, and they think that your BBS is DEAD, so they don't call.

  34. METHOD #2: Put your BBS ad/logo in all of the files on YOUR BBS.
  35.  
  36. Good Aspect: Everyone who downloads sees your logo/ad, in their file
  37. and so they tell their friends etc..
  38.  
  39. Bad Aspect: When they upload the file to ANOTHER BBS, the other BBS, strips
  40. out your AD/LOGO, and places their own. Hence, NO ONE else sees your a/logo.

  42. METHOD #3: Get you Board listed & Reviewed in a list such as MINE.

  44. Good Aspects: Many people download the file, and since EVERY number works
  45. they eventually call your number, and you get new users.
  46. They see the review of your BBS, and really like it so they call you.
  47.  
  48. Bad Aspects: There are MANY numbers, and eventhough they all work, they 
  49. may miss yours out of so many of them. Also, since the Reviews will 
  50. be expanding gradually, and as they become large, they mightn't see you
  51. BBS.

  53. THE SOLUTION:

  55.     What I'm proposing here, is the following:

  57. ****Place an advertisment for YOUR BBS in this .zip file. With the 
  58. advertisment, I will add a 1 PAGE REVIEW of YOUR BBS. *Did you say
  59. 1PAGE? YES! I will conduct an honest review of your board, that will 
  60. last for one page. I will conduct it on every aspect of your BBS, with
  61. YOUR OWN personal comments, telling people why to call.
  62.   Is that GREAT? Well, that's not all. What was the problem that I mentioned
  63. before about adding your own ad/logo to your files? Well, that when its
  64. uloaded to another BBS, that BBS will strip out that ad/logo and add
  65. its own. With my ad/review, it would be in a .txt/.doc/etc...form that
  66. the BBS wouldn't recognize as an add, just as a REGULAR File. 
  67. This sounds great, right? Well, there is one hitch...I am requesting a 
  68. SMALL fee of $2-$5(negotiable) to do this because, it takes money to call
  69. your BBS, and review it, and it takes up system resources. This fee is 
  70. TINY compared to the amount of MONEY that you make on membership/adult
  71. fees on your BBS. Besides, just imagine how many NEW USERS, and prospective
  72. membership payers you could have..and this .zip file is uploaded to about
  73. 25-50 BBS, by myself, and other people. Your AD/REVIEW would remain in 
  74. EVERY SINGLE revision of the .zip file for only that ONE TIME COST.
